World Famous Banana & Pickle Tricks Video (Dan Garrett)
The Multiplying Bananas have become a classic of magic. It was based on the Multiplying Sausages routine and came into existence when Al Cohen found a guy who was willing to hand-cut and paint sponges. Later Dan Garrett, with permission, taught himself how to make them, and popularized the routines, added the baby bananas and released routines with sponge pickles, carrots, and teeth.
On this video tutorial Dan performs his Banana Routine during a live children’s show and then explains in detail how to perform the moves and the routine. He then performs the version using sponge pickles and explains all the details of that routine. Both routines use the same techniques and structures.
The routines begin by introducing the sponge item and as you take it away a second one appears, you toss the original in a box and come back to take the second one. As you try to take away the second one a third one appears. This can be repeated as many times as you like.
As a finale you put the last two sponge items in your friend’s hand as you show that all the ones in the box have disappeared. As a kicker ending your friend opens their hand to discover a bunch of tiny matching sponges in their hand.
