- Difficulty: INTERMEDIATE
- Category: CARD MAGIC
- Product Type: MAGIC TRICK
A great packet trick by Jack Carpenter and Jamie Masterson that has many surprises that gradually lead to an unexpected ending that will fool and entertain.
You begin by talking about the famous Gorilla Experiment video where players pass around a basketball and watchers are asked to count the number of times the ball is passed. After watching the video people are surprised to find that they did not see a large gorilla walk through the players, pound his chest and then walk off. You then explain that the video was a research project on "Inattentional Blindness" and you will try to replicate the experiment with playing cards.
You start with a packet of five cards that has four Jokers and an Ace. The audience is asked to tell you what they just saw and you explain that there were actually two Aces in the packet and three Jokers. This is repeated and each time the packet is shown another Ace appears that was not seen before. This is claimed to be due to "Inattentional Blindness" where they are looking for the Jokers and missing the Aces. Eventually, the packet is shown to consist of four Aces and just one Joker; the exact opposite of what you started with.
You then explain that the “Inattentional Blindness” is so strong the very few people see the different colored backs on the Aces. The Aces are turned over and each one has a different brightly colored back. Finally, you ask if anyone saw the gorilla. When everyone says no, the final card is turned over and there is a large gorilla on it.
Comes with all necessary cards (Bicycle Poker Size), carrying envelope, and written instructions. A Jamie Masterson Product.
